I have a number of research trips planned for this summer, including the one I’m just starting now, to Vienna. This year I have decided to take the bold (?) step of leaving my laptop at home and taking my Android tablet instead. It’s lighter, turns on immediately, and is less hassle with airport security (or at least that was my experience on a trip to Amsterdam 2 weeks ago). What could go wrong? Well, I’ve installed Documents to Go, and I have Dropbox and Google drive, so I can access my files and create Word documents and presentations. And, of course, I can post to my blog! So it should be OK. The only thing I can’t do is run the simulation code I use, which runs on all my PCs and laptops. That is, until the developers release an Android version!
I’ll post again when I return with a report on how I got on.
